Grendon Sapphires

A Brief History

Grendon Sapphires was founded in the October of '94, with 15 children and matches played on the local village playing field. The club has been a member of the Northants 92 League since the very beginning and has grown to include teams for the Under 8's, Under 9's, Under 11's and Under 15's - and is currently in the process of setting up an Adult team for the coming season.

We are proud to say that the Under 8's won the first N.F.A. Fair Play Trophy in 2001, and then repeated their success - with the Under 9's also showing their colours - by winning the trophy again in 2002.

Having outgrown the local playing field - and the facilities to store our large growing collection of Trophies - the Club has moved slightly and has been leasing our current playing field from the Compton Estate since 2002 - and are continuing the drive to raise funds to provide onsite toilets and changing facilities - the plans for which have already been approved. We currently await to hear if we have been successful with our grant application from the Football Foundation which will go toward this build.

In February this 2006 we were pleased to receive the status of Chartered Standard.

Having spent 2 years playing in the Milton Keynes Youth Football League, our Under 15's Team will be moving to the Weetabix League this season.
