West Haddon JFC
A Brief History
West Haddon J.F.C was originally formed in 1980 and played at Under 13 for 3 seasons in the Northants Combination Youth League, the club then dissolved due to lack of interest.
It was started again in 1994 playing local village sides in friendly games, then in 1996 with an Under 12 team became part of the Woodford & District Friendly League. The following season there were 2 teams, an Under 11 and 13. In 1999 the Under 15’s played their last season in the league with the other team finishing at Under 16’s in the 2001/2002 season. The club dissolved again due to lack of interest.
With the village growing in size and renewed local interest and the absence of a village football team, the club started training again in the summer of 2001, including a wide variety of ages and continued throughout the year. As a result of the increased number of children attending training, a committee was formed to manage the club. There were enough players to form an Under 9 team in 2002/03 where we played in the John Henry League. This went to 2 teams the following season playing in the Northants 92 and John Henry League’s, this was due mainly to the support and dedication of both parents and children involved. By the time we reached 2004/05 season the club was represented at Under 11, 10 & 9’s with teams continuing to play in both leagues.
The club gained the FA Charter Development Award in 2004 and has continued to grow in a number of age groups with the support of qualified coaches.
